Ageless Beauties – Typeface “Ambroise” and Chillwave Musicians “Washed Out”

Beauty Sure Does Sell!

Peter Aldag - Jun.29.2011 · 0 Kommentare

In our design business, we have learned from publishing houses that cover artwork has great influence on buying decisions even if customers have not a glue about the content or have never heard of the author. Beauty seems really not to be an obstacle for economical success, hey marketing numbnuts! believe it or not. Same happened here as we were stunned first by the great artwork of Ernest Greene aka Washed Out’s new album, “Within or Without”, second we had a listen, third, we loved it even more.

Two gentlemen teamed up to create an album inspired by Italian spaghetti western soundtracks, with Jack White and Norah Jones.

ROME ❤ Album ❤ Danger Mouse ❤ Daniele Luppi ❤ Jack White ❤ Norah Jones ❤

Peter Aldag - May.16.2011 · 1 Kommentar

Brian Burton and Daniele Luppi met in Los Angeles in 2004.  Burton, better known as Danger Mouse, had just created a media storm with The Grey Album, begun work on Gorillaz Demon Days opus and was also embarking on his hugely successful Gnarls Barkley project with Cee-Lo Green.  Luppi, a composer from Italy, was receiving acclaim for his album An Italian Story, which revisited the cinematic sounds of his childhood.  (He has also written music for the screen – Sex and the City, Nine – and later worked with Burton on arrangements for Gnarls Barkley, Dark Night of the Soul and Broken Bells.) United by their shared passion for classic Italian film music, they decided to create something special.  After an intense songwriting period – writing separately at first, and then together as the songs evolved – they travelled to Rome in October 2006.  Luppi made some calls and they assembled the original musicians from films such as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and Once Upon a Time in the West – including the legendary Marc 4 backing band and Alessandro Alessandroni’s ‘I Cantori Moderni’ choir. read complete article…

Hanna Soundtrack by The Chemical Brothers

Peter Aldag - Mar.07.2011 · 0 Kommentare

The title character of this adventure thriller, filmed in Europe, Hanna (Saoirse Ronan) is a teenage girl. Uniquely, she has the strength, the stamina, and the smarts of a soldier; these come from being raised by her father (Eric Bana), an ex-CIA man, in the wilds of Finland. Living a life unlike any other teenagers, her upbringing and training have been one and the same, all geared to making her the perfect assassin. The turning point in her adolescence is a sharp one; sent into the world by her father on a mission, Hanna journeys stealthily across Europe while eluding agents dispatched after her by a ruthless intelligence operative with secrets of her own (Cate Blanchett). As she nears her ultimate target, Hanna faces startling revelations about her existence and unexpected questions about her humanity. (Wikipedia). Director: Joe Wright. Cast: Eric Bana, Cate Blanchett and Saoirse Ronan. Soundtrack: The Chemical Brothers. More Tracks on Soundcloud. Buy on iTunes. Movietrailer after the snip.

Nice plaything just for fun: The Lobstores.

The Lobstore Lobsterbeats

Peter Aldag - Jan.12.2011 · 0 Kommentare

We have worked on this project a couple of years ago and since then, the Lobstores meander a little bit around in the infinite webspace until we brought them back on our homepage. The Lobstores are a virtual band of -you guessed it- lobsters. By clicking on the characters, the lobster starts to play its instrument, so you can create your very own version of the song. Well, it’s a Flash application and does not work on mobile apple devices, so you have to click the button on the upper right first. Music written and played by Marc Dienewald, the characters are drawn by Maria Ploskow, the animation and flash programming is made by Fabian Stein from dasbomm. Enjoy! Hope you like.

2010 was a great year in music. Guess we are all looking forward on what is coming up in 2011. Naturally, music has also to do with high-tech and sound engineering. Both, the quality of the sound and the situative fit of the device make the difference not to forget Design, a value of its own. Think about Loudspeakers, think about travel baggage – only the right equipment provides a pleasant journey. Same with enjoying music. #2 album of the year: Caribou “Swim”

Marc Dienewald - Dec.30.2010 · 0 Kommentare

Don’t let the name fool you. This is not Ethno World Music or Happy Caribbean Steeldrum Sound. This is psychedelic electronic singer-songwriter kraut pop…with an experimental twist and a little dub, too :) . Swim is a really outstanding album by Canadian mastermind Daniel Snaith who is based in London now. Amazing music that doesn’t chum up with anybody. Check out Jamelia and Odessa and the goddamn rest of the album! Easy and well done. This is what 2010 sounds like! This is what we all wanted the Hot Chip album to be like ;) Our album of the year 2010 if there wasn’t the other one that will be shown tomorrow! Frogfisher says: Hey man, this was a good year! Listen to and buy Caribou on iTunes. read complete article…
